The IPL spot-fixing scandal may have been unearthed only this year but Indian bookies and the underworld have been minting money in other cricket leagues as well including the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Based on the interrogation of bookie Sunil Bhatia, Delhi Police suspect that a "prominent Bangladeshi bowler", who has played several international matches, also spot-fixed matches with Bhatia, sources said. Bhatia, a known name in bookie circles, even went to Bangladesh recently with railways cricketer Babu Rao Yadav, offering him a place in one of the BPL teams. However, ICC's anti-corruption team spotted him, forcing the duo to flee back to India.
