Do controversies run after the IPL or does the IPL run after controversies? Commentators on the rolls of the BCCI have been doing their best to tell us that this season has been about cricket and only cricket. They have been writing and yelling about the beauty of the super-over finishes, chance of watching Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting open the innings for Mumbai and praising onematch wonders like Jasprit Bhumra.

There has been little logic to some of the things that have happened in the league so far. With each day it’s becoming tough to take them at face value. Last evening was one such day. When Rajasthan Royals captain Rahul Dravid came out to toss with MI counterpart Ponting, one of the biggest interests was the battle between Royals’s S Sreesanth and Mumbai’s Harbhajan Singh.
