The schedule of the World Twenty20 2014 was tweaked to the convenience of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), more precisely the Indian Premier League(IPL), it has emerged.

Officials and administrators, who are closely associated with the conduct of the ICC tournament, have revealed that concerns were raised by the officials of the BCCI over the issue of the World T20 tournament occupying too much time in April 2014. Subsequently, the schedule underwent changes to the satisfaction of the BCCI.

In the end, it was all’s well that ends well. Sources within Bangladesh and those associated with the tournament say originally the tournament was to be held in April, or at least a large number of matches would have taken place in April next year. Following BCCI’s ‘request’, the dates were advanced.
